The latest Medibank Health Check has just landed at Healthy Kids HQ and, even though it’s a survey of just 1,500 Australians, the strongest statistics are still very surprising.
For example, a whopping 54% of people believe they should change their diet but don’t know how, and 53% of people find it difficult to make healthy choices.
Unfortunately there are no child-specific statistics in this particular report, but it does showcase interesting statistics on eating as a family and practising mindful eating – 68% of people eat with their families and about the same amount eat what is served to them.
This means that the role of parents and carers in cooking healthy, nutritious and homemade meals for families and groups is still as important as ever.
