Eat It To Beat It is a program run by the NSW Cancer Council that encourages parents of primary school age children to eat more fruit and vegetables.
How does it work?
The program consists of a number of activities aimed at encouraging families to eat fruit and vegetables. These include:
- Healthy Lunch Box session – a 25 minute presentation delivered to parents which highlights the importance of packing a healthy lunch box.
- Fruit & Veg $ense session – a 90minute session that provides parents of primary school aged children with the tools, knowledge and skills necessary to increase their vegetable and fruit intake.
The activities are run in participating NSW primary schools. Participants are provided with some fantastic resources to help them action what they have learnt during the sessions. These include a healthy lunch box kit and planner, recipes, money saving information and tips on how to get the whole family enjoying more fruit and vegetables.
Other resources are available on the Eat It To Beat It website or Facebook page.
